Latest Mario News
The biggest recent Mario news is the first full trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, the sequel to the 2023 Super Mario Bros. Movie. Nintendo and Illumination revealed it during a dedicated Nintendo Direct on November 12, 2025. The film is scheduled for theaters on April 3, 2026 in most markets (April 24 in Japan) and will support REALD 3D and Dolby Cinema.
Key trailer highlights and cast:
- Returning voices: Chris Pratt (Mario), Anya Taylor-Joy (Peach), Charlie Day (Luigi), Jack Black (Bowser), Keegan-Michael Key (Toad), Kevin Michael Richardson (Kamek)
- New cast: Brie Larson as Rosalina, Benny Safdie as Bowser Jr.
- The trailer shows Mario and Luigi on a space adventure featuring the Comet Observatory, Megaleg, Tostarenans from Odyssey’s Sand Kingdom, and elements from Galaxy, Odyssey, and more.
New posters and artwork have also dropped, including Mario and Luigi in desert gear with Tostarenans. There were a few pre-trailer leaks too, like Yoshi and the Comet Observatory spotted on Pillsbury packaging.
Other ongoing 40th anniversary celebrations for Super Mario Bros. (1985):
- Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2 bundle released October 2, 2025 for Switch and Switch 2 with 4K docked enhancements; it topped U.S. Nintendo sales charts in September.
- Special exhibits and light displays at the Nintendo Museum in Kyoto running through September 2026.
- A brand-new Mario balloon will debut at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade on November 27, 2025.
- Upcoming titles include a new Mario Kart (Switch 2 exclusive), Mario Tennis Fever, Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, and a Talking Flower toy coming spring 2026.
Recent game updates:
- Super Mario 3D All-Stars received a patch (v1.1.4) in October 2025 for better Switch 2 compatibility.
- Mario Tennis Fever just got rated in Brazil, suggesting a physical release is coming soon.
There are still rumors of a brand-new 3D Mario title for Switch 2 sometime between 2026–2028, but nothing official yet.
